FREDERICK THOMAS SIBSON: OBITUARY from Utica newspaper:
"Mr. Sibson was well-known to many Uticans who were young men at the outbreak of the Civil War. He was born in Nottingham, England in 1839, and at the age of 8 came with his parents to Utica. Here he attended school. At the age of 14 he became a messenger boy, and then learned telegraphy. In 1861 he entered the employ of the New York Central Railroad at Niagara Falls as operator. Later he was a ticket agent stationed at Oneida as operator and ticket agent, and in 1873 became assistant ticket agent at Syracuse, where all his subsequent life was spent."

Always affable and courteous, he had a host of friends and gave loyal service to his employers. Mr. Sibson was stricken with a severe cold Easter Sunday and died of pheumonia Wednesday of last week. Miss Sibson [Mary Jane] went to Syracuse to care for him, and ministered to him with sisterly affection and devotion until the end. The shock of her brother's death, coupled with the strain put upon her during his sickness, proved too much for her, and Tuesday morning she passed away in Syracuse. Mr. Sibson and his sister were deeply attached to each other, and there is something singularly pathetic in the closeness of their deaths.
