Lewis Riggs Williams was named after the doctor who birthed him. Lewis Riggs was a native of Norwalk CT; his medical instructor was Dr. Samuel Woodward of Litchfield, CT; received his State medical license in 1812; emigrated to Homer, NY in 1818. Was elected to the state congress from Homer in 1840. Erected Superior Mills in 1838; a "prudent, skillful & successful practitioner".
